The personal car apparently is a way forward; we had already seen the innovative Segway PUMA GM-Pod, and now a Dutch company PAL-V Europe BV takes this concept to another level, the air, with the Personal Air and Land Vehicle PAL -V. This vehicle ground staff and air is a car with the abilities of a helicopter.
Already you have seen other attempts to cars bi-modal and the Transition, a car-like flying Cessna airplane also find there the aptera 2e but that does not fly its design is very similar to that of an airplane. But the PAL-V before all you concrete ideas were a reality that is even being tested.
Designed by John Bakker, this car-tricycle helicopter was tested recently near Amersfoort, where he attended the Minister of Transport of the Netherlands, which stated:
“The use of flying cars will be limited to emergency services … and that its widespread use would have to amend the general laws of movement”
The company expects to begin production of the PAL-V from 2012, and for those interested will get to your destination by helicopter pilot and his job, a car that car. The PAL-V will have a small engine Mazda, with hybrid technology that can operate on gasoline, bio-diesel or bio-ethanol.
The PAL-V can accelerate from 0 to ground 100 kilometers in less than 5 seconds, its consumption is 1l/25kms. Under PAL-V Europe BV, the vehicle will be propelled by an engine and a propeller similar to those of a small autogiro. For off (with a single button) will require approximately 50 meters and may reach a maximum speed in the air near 200 km / h.
